Zafferano del Sebino


The ”Società Agricola Simone” that first patented the brand “Zafferano del Sebino” produces saffron pistils at “Ai Bossolà” in Clusane D’Iseo. It does not use any chemical weed-killers or fertilisers whatsoever but prefers using the “Green Manure” technique, which involves rotating the crops on two pieces of land so that one is left to rest for a year. It then goes on to the handpicking of the pistils separating them from the flowers and finishes with the a low temperature drying process. This precious spice has been used since ancient times and has beneficial effects on our health. It is a great source of vitamins and helps digestion, it stimulates the blood circulation and it lowers cholesterol levels.
