Brixia Typographica Exhibition – SUSPENDED
From Sunday 11 October 2020 to Sunday 15 November 2020 - h. 15:00
Update: given the new provisions of the DPCM of 03/11/2020, the exhibition has been suspended.
Giacinto Ubaldo Lanfranchi in his passion for book collecting had a particular attention to Brescia’s typography of the ancient regime: thanks to his care, the collection of ancient editions he created is today internationally considered as one of the richest printed in Brescia. This is precisely the theme of the exhibition “Brixia Typographica – La grande tradizione dei tipografi bresciani. Il contributo della Raccolta Lanfranchi” which will exhibit a selection of precious ancient volumes from October 11th to November 15th. A path that will guide the visitors to discover the main characters of Brescia’s publishing from the origins up to 1800, introducing him to the knowledge of a sector that led the city to be one of the most important realities of this kind in Italy.
The exhibition will be officially inaugurated in the presence of the authorities on October 11th at 3 pm. Speakers will be prof. Edoardo Barbieri, Full Professor of Book History at the Catholic University of Milan and Brescia and director of CRELEB and Dr. Fabrizio Fossati, curator of the exhibition.
Opening hours: 11th, 18th and 25th October and 1st, 8th and 15th November from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm, or by appointment for groups and schools.
