“Le 2 Rive del Jazz” – Le Nuove Leve del Jazz “From Elvis to Trane”
Saturday 2 December 2023 - h. 17:00
The summer traveling exhibition “Le 2 Rive del Jazz” organized by the Luigi Tadini Association and The Editor arrives in the Hall of Frescoes of the Tadini Academy in Lovere for four events featuring established musicians and new talents from the Bergamo and Brescia jazz scene. There will also be space for the documentary on the Lovere Jazz Festival of the Seventies and the preview of the trailer of the next video which tells the story of maestro Gianluigi Trovesi.
Four events with the contribution of the Lombardy Region which aim to demonstrate the vitality of the Bergamo and Brescia jazz scene, therefore faithful to the project of qualifying the musical proposal on the two shores of Lake Iseo. At the same time, with the two documentaries, one finished and the second still in progress, we want to bear witness to the history of this music in our territory through the story of the four incredible years of Lovere Jazz 1977-1980 and the story of the great career of an extraordinary musician like Gianluigi Trovesi.
On Saturday 2 December for the Nuove Leve del Jazz the project “From Elvin to Trane” by Riccardo Paolo Cola, graduated in jazz drums at the Luca Marenzio Conservatory of Brescia, will be on stage, which analyzes the stylistic elements of Elvin Ray Jones, the unforgettable drummer of John Coltrane quartet. Riccardo Paolo Cola’s interpretation is linked to a general concept of expressive freedom on the instrument, within a music often free from pre-established structures, in which he plays trying to use some technical elements of his style. The songs, original compositions by Elvin Jones and John Coltrane, are the result of interpretations and arrangements which, in this context, take on the characteristics of a suite: they are therefore all connected to each other without interruptions, almost always through a solo interlude. A “musical journey” that moves between tradition and modernity, in which the musicians interact with each other recreating different atmospheres, following only some guidelines and their own sensitivity.
