As part of Crystal’s 2023-2024 theater season, the show “Andavo ai 100 all’ora” with Paolo Cevoli, written and directed by Paolo Cevoli.
“Andavo ai 1oo all’ora” sang Gianni Morandi in his first single. It was 1962, the year in which many things happened, a turning point in Italian life. And for the world of the time, going 100 km per hour was a revolution. ‘Today, if you go on the motorway at that speed, even the pig transport trucks will sound behind you.’ How things have changed in recent years! Paolo Cevoli, born in 1958, a grandfather with 2 grandchildren, imagines telling his children’s children what his life was like when he was a child. Things that seem absurd today: there was no internet, telephones had rotary wheels, television was in black and white; there was no ‘political correctness’, no separate waste collection (also because almost no rubbish was produced…) and no ‘aperice dinners’. A different daily life, just as the cars were different, certainly not equipped, the lifestyles and rhythms were less stressful. A personal, ironic and funny story that spans Paolo’s entire life up to the present day. Not with regret or nostalgia, not to say that ‘it used to be better’, but to understand our roots and laugh at ourselves a little.
