22nd Memorial Mario Stoppani – Lovere
Saturday 31 August 2024
On Saturday 31 August the traditional event in memory of the highly decorated aviator from Lovere, an ace of the Italian air force in the First World War and record holder of the skies, returns to Lovere, organized by the Municipality of Lovere in collaboration with the Municipality of Marone, the Basin Authority of the Iseo, Endine and Moro lakes and the ASD “Comandante Mario Stoppani”.
The 22nd edition of the “Mario Stoppani” Memorial returns in its most authentic guise, that of a seaplane rally that will see the pilots and their aircraft as protagonists on Sunday on the Caproni hydrosurface, in the body of water in front of the Marone lakeside.
The event includes a schedule of interesting cultural initiatives both in Lovere and Marone with exhibitions, conferences, meetings with the author, an aeronautical village and seaplane flights.
The schedule for Saturday, August 31st will take place entirely in Lovere where at 11:00 am the usual commemoration and the laying of the laurel wreath on the tomb of Mario Stoppani will be held at the Lovere Cemetery.
Following at 3:30 pm at the Aula Didattica of the Tadini Academy, there will be the Aeronautical Conference on “EROI DELL’ARIA: AGELLO, STOPPANI, CATTANEO”, where Fabio De Ferrara, Mario Caroli, Emanuele Ghiroldi and Francesco Dionigi will speak. During the conference, the Literary Competition “IL CIELO DI MARIO STOPPANI” will be presented, dedicated to the students of the secondary schools of Lovere, with the aim of bringing young people closer to the world and culture of flight.
At the end of the day, at the Libreria Mondadori in Lovere at 7:00 p.m., there will be an aperitif with the author Ivano Ceribelli who will present his book “L’ULTIMO VOLO”, where at the end of the event a taste of the historic aeronautical cocktail of the “buon ritorno” will be offered.
This year the event does not include any show related to aerial acrobatics and the flyover of the PAN – Pattuglia Acrobatica Nazionale – Frecce Tricolori is not planned, as the patrol is engaged in the North American Tour.
