On Thursday 25 September at 8:30 PM, at the Civic Cultural Center in Via del Cantiere in Lovere, a conference entitled “Le marmitte! Le marmitte” with Aldo Avogadri, naturalist will take place.

A reexamination of the phenomenon described by the renowned geologist in light of new findings on water flows within glaciers.
“Le marmitte! Le marmitte”, wrote Abbot Antonio Stoppani in the fifth evening of his work “Il Bel Paese.”
In the International Year of Glaciers, inaugurated on March 21, 2025, we remember the glacial environment, which is in dramatic crisis due to climate change.
For the occasion, we will discuss an important geomorphological feature created by glacial melt in the Lake Iseo area. The phenomenon will be interpreted based on Stoppani’s studies, who discovered and observed it for the first time in Trentino-Alto Adige, in Vezzano sul Chiese, in 1875.
