La Capitanio 1926 – The centenary – Navigare in 100 anni di storia
From Saturday 2 May 2026 to Sunday 3 May 2026
On Saturday 2nd May and Sunday 3rd May, Lovere will host celebrations for the centenary of the motor vessel La Capitanio.
Two days of celebrations dedicated to the historic motor vessel La Capitanio, a symbol of Lake Iseo’s nautical tradition, enriched by the involvement of museums and cultural institutions linked to the nautical industry of Lombardy’s lakes.
Visits on board, historical conferences, concerts, public navigations and the great parade of boats will take the public on a journey shared between memory, culture and passion for navigation.
Program:
On Saturday 2nd May
– 10:00-12:00/14:00-15:00: guided tours aboard the motor vessel at the pier adjacent to the Marinai d’Italia Park;
– 3:30 pm: conference “The Lombard Lakes Museums on the Centenary of La Capitanio” at the Fresco Room of the Tadini Academy. An aperitif will follow for participants. Free entry;
– 9:00 PM: Four-hand piano recital by Carmine Colangeli and Francesco Quattrocchi at the Tadini Academy Concert Hall. Free entry.
On Sunday 3rd May
– 10.30 am: parade along the lakeside of La Capitanio accompanied by boats from the century-old Canottieri Sebino club and solemn blessing of the motor vessel;
– 12:00-15:00: Tour aboard La Capitanio, departing from Parco Marinai d’Italia in Lovere. By reservation upon registration by clicking HERE
– 4:30 pm: Silence Teatro performance aboard the Capitanio departing from Piazzale Marinai d’Italia towards the Lady Mary W. Montagu lakefront;
– 5:00 PM: Lovere Band Concert at Parco Marinai d’Italia. This was followed by closing institutional greetings.
