Lovere, 21 November 2023 – The 14th edition of the project “Lovere, Il Borgo della luce” that the Municipal Administration of Lovere has decided to dedicate to the artist Bruno Bozzetto and his creative universe in the year of the important event “Bergamo Brescia Italian Capital of Culture 2023”. Bozzetto, pride of Bergamo, has a deep bond with Lovere, which has consolidated over time thanks to its fruitful collaboration with the Foundation “Domenico Oprandi” ETS for the realization of the international short film festival “cortoLovere”of which he is honorary president.
The evocative artistic-scenic lighting on over 10,000 square meters of buildings of one of “The most beautiful villages in Italy” will therefore have as protagonists the most iconic characters of cartoons of the great animator in Christmas clothes and smiling, to bring joy, affectionate hugs and serenity to all. An initiative realized thanks to the important contribution obtained from the regional call “ognigiorno inLombardia”, which rewards events and initiatives with a particular tourist-attractiveness of Lombardy destinations. The event is also sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce of Bergamo and the Ascom Bergamo Association.
We are very happy to bring in our town, with this initiative of great charm, able to attract thousands of visitors, all the magic of the characters of Bruno Bozzetto and pay tribute to this great artist to whom goes all our gratitude – says the Mayor of Lovere, Alex Pennacchio.
“An honor for me – comments Bruno Bozzetto – to be the guest of this wonderful and magical event in a city, Lovere, that I love very much, not only for its beauty, but also for the cultural vitality that distinguishes it and that for years binds me as honorary president at the Festival cortoLovere.”
The lighting ceremony will take place on Saturday 25th November in Piazza Tredici Martiri at 17:30 in the presence of the famous animator Bruno Bozzetto and the CEO of Studio Bozzetto Pietro Pinetti. In the meantime, the afternoon will be animated by Radio Number One with the speaker Laura Basile starting at 16:00.
From Friday 19 to Sunday 21 January 2024, from 17:00 to midnight, the historic buildings will become a symbolic palette on which the legendary characters of Bozzetto cartoons such as Signor Rossi, West and Soda, Vip – my Brother, Allegro non troppo will find a new home. The atmosphere will be made even more magical thanks to a suggestive path of lights and Christmas decorations placed along the squares and streets of the ancient village, as well as thanks to themed entertainment activities that will lead residents and tourists to discover the magical world of Bruno Bozzetto and cartoons. These include the following:
– on Saturday 9th November, in Piazza Tredici Martiri entertainment not to be missed with Topo Tip, mascot loved by all children created by Studio Bozzetto;
– on 22nd December, at 20:45 at the Sala degli Affreschi dell’Accademia Tadini, presentation of the book “Il signor Bozzetto. An animated life” by Simone Tempia in the presence of the author and Bruno Bozzetto.
With “Lovere, the village of light – the magic of Christmas with cartoons by Bruno Bozzetto” – explains Sara Raponi, Councillor for Tourism, Events and Commerce of the Municipality of Lovere – the City Council intends to give impetus and further impetus to tourism and commerce of the town, and increase the attractiveness and prestige of Lovere and the surrounding area. An action that wants to give continuity to the job of promotion and valorization of the territory after the years of strong restrictions tied to the pandemic from Covid-19 and to the well known difficulties deriving from the difficult international situation, an intense and precious job that, as witnessed by the Tourist Observatory of the province of Bergamo, is giving extremely positive results in terms of arrivals and presences of both Italians and foreigners in the accommodation facilities of Lovere and Alto Sebino.
Special thanks – concludes Mayor Pennacchio – to those who have collaborated with so much enthusiasm to the project, in particular to Bruno Bozzetto and his daughters Anita and Irene for the exceptional availability thanks to which it was possible to create such a special and unique scenography, the “D. Oprandi” Foundation, the Goboservice company team and all the sponsors.
