Neapolitan Artistic Nativity Scenes
From Saturday 6 December 2025 to Tuesday 6 January 2026
As part of the “Sarnico Magic Christmas…where Dreams Come True” event, from December 6th, 2025, to January 6th, 2026, selected shop windows in the historic center (Via Lantieri and Via Piccinelli) will feature an exhibition of Neapolitan Artistic Nativity Scenes, created by artist Antonio Mammato and other Neapolitan nativity scene masters.
Works created using the cork technique are embellished with nativity scenes and statues created by the creativity and skill of various Neapolitan masters.
Antonio Mammato, originally from the Amalfi Coast, moved to the Province of Bergamo about twenty-five years ago and has turned a hobby and passion into his profession. He runs an exhibition workshop dedicated to the Neapolitan nativity scene.
The classic Neapolitan nativity scene is a representation of the birth of Jesus, traditionally set in 18th-century Naples. The art of Neapolitan nativity scenes has remained unchanged for centuries, becoming part of the city’s most established and popular Christmas traditions and exported worldwide.
This activity is supported by the Lombardy Region and the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce, and with the support of the Province of Bergamo, the Bergamo Community Foundation, and the Bergamo Educational Institutes Foundation.
