Full of culture!

Villages, churches and art galleries: if you are planning a trip to Lake Iseo that includes a few artistic stops, don’t miss our suggestions.

From Pisogne to Franciacorta, five fantastic itineraries!

The villages

The villages around the lake have an undisputed charm, but would you like to know more? Don’t miss the tours of local guides to discover curious corners and anecdotes that will amaze you. They can be booked in advance, so make the most of this opportunity!

You will marvel at jewels such as the Archangel Michael by Francesco Hayez in the parish church of S. Andrea in Iseo, the triumph of Baroque works in San Zenone in Sale Marasino, or the organ panels by Moretto in the magnificent Basilica of S. Maria in Valvendra in Lovere, and the imposing Crucifixion by Romanino in S. Maria della Neve in Pisogne.

Jewels are revealed along the Ancient Valeriana Road

The Antica Strada Valeriana traces the sinuous curves of the eastern shore of Lake Iseo, has certainly become one of the most popular walks in northern Italy in recent years.

But this fascinating route also showcases a host of civil and religious sites that have left their mark on local history: Santa Maria della Neve, entirely frescoed with biblical themes and an immense Passion scene by Romanino, the ancient church of San Giorgio in Zone, the Hermitage of San Pietro with its Via Crucis in Marone, the disused mill and the Maspiano nucleus in Sale Marasino.

Italian Art Nouveau

The Art Nouveau style mansions on Lake Iseo are beautiful and impressive. The best-preserved and best known are in Sarnico, which is rightfully one of the itineraries dedicated to this sought-after architectural style.

Speaking of architecture, you’re spoilt for choice in Franciacorta.

The wine cellars will fascinate you from the castles or historical palaces that house them to the more modern structures with an assured visual impact. Amazing!

The Sculpture Park at the Bellavista winery and  at L’Albereta Reais&Chateaux, the Contemporary Museum hosted by La Montina at  and not to mention the Agricultural and Wine Museum at the Ricci Curbastro winery are all worth a visit.

Exhibitions and cultural events

There are many initiatives for all tastes throughout the year on Lake Iseo.

For the figurative arts and photography, there is no shortage of exhibition spaces in enchanting places, above all: The historic Galleria dell’Accademia Tadini in Lovere, The Pinacoteca Gianni Bellini in Sarnico, L’Arsenale in Iseo and L’Uccellanda in Paratico.

If you are a music lover, there are many prestigious initiatives and the concert offer is very respectable: Onde Musicali, Iseo Jazz, and Le due Rive del Jazz are just a few illustrious names.
