Jewels are revealed along the Ancient Valeriana Road

The Antica Strada Valeriana traces the sinuous curves of the eastern shore of Lake Iseo, has certainly become one of the most popular walks in northern Italy in recent years.

But this fascinating route also showcases a host of civil and religious sites that have left their mark on local history: Santa Maria della Neve, entirely frescoed with biblical themes and an immense Passion scene by Romanino, the ancient church of San Giorgio in Zone, the Hermitage of San Pietro with its Via Crucis in Marone, the disused mill and the Maspiano nucleus in Sale Marasino.

Speaking of architecture, you’re spoilt for choice in Franciacorta.

The wine cellars will fascinate you from the castles or historical palaces that house them to the more modern structures with an assured visual impact. Amazing!

The Sculpture Park at the Bellavista winery and  at L’Albereta Reais&Chateaux, the Contemporary Museum hosted by La Montina at  and not to mention the Agricultural and Wine Museum at the Ricci Curbastro winery are all worth a visit.

There are many initiatives for all tastes throughout the year on Lake Iseo.

For the figurative arts and photography, there is no shortage of exhibition spaces in enchanting places, above all: The historic Galleria dell’Accademia Tadini in Lovere, The Pinacoteca Gianni Bellini in Sarnico, L’Arsenale in Iseo and L’Uccellanda in Paratico.

If you are a music lover, there are many prestigious initiatives and the concert offer is very respectable: Onde Musicali, Iseo Jazz, and Le due Rive del Jazz are just a few illustrious names.
