On Friday 19 April at 9.00 pm, the Sala degli Affreschi of the Tadini Academy will host “Kuntari”, an Indonesian duo constantly searching for their own personal sound, straddling electronics, improvisation and tribal rhythms.

Tesla Manaf (guitar, prepared trumpet and electronics) and Rio Abror (drums, percussion and electronics) create a sound with a strong rhythmic and percussive component combined with a dark-ambient sound with a strong personality with a strong connection also with traditional music Indonesian such as Kuntulan (18th century) and Barongsai (12th century).

This duo, capable of engaging listeners with an original sound that always straddles different styles, has played live on numerous tours across Indonesia, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia and, in 2021, they saw their album reported as the best album of the year by Jakarta Post.

They are currently on tour in Europe and over forty dates are planned in Holland, Germany, Italy and the Baltic Republics.
