Verona, 1990.
In a world where conflict dominates without reason, a sudden encounter triggers feelings, feelings become love until they burn with passion and desire. Illuminated only by the light of the moon and dawn, the hearts of the two young lovers push them to rebel, challenging not only their respective families, but also their own destiny.
Yet, Romeo + Juliet is not only a spectacular journey through the swirling emotions of the human soul, but it is also the symbol of the eternal contradictions of today’s society.
Modernity and tradition, custom and progress, freedom and prejudice, the veil of hope and sacrifice that in the hands of the mad becomes the engine of choices with inevitable consequences.
Rich in extremely current social themes such as traditionalism, orthodoxy and fear of the different, Romeo + Juliet, based on Shakespeare’s work of the same name and freely inspired by the film “R+G” by Baz Luhrmann, is the musical that deals with the love story par excellence in a new and original perspective.
Saturday 26 October 2024 at 8:30 pm, the newcoatoftheatre theatre company, 9 singers, 6 dancers, 4 fencers with co-direction by Chiara Petrone and Carlo Hasan and choreography by Chiara Petrone, will perform in the famous show accompanied by the music of Riccardo Cocciante.
This show is produced in collaboration with 3 associations working in the area to which part of the proceeds will be donated (€3 each ticket):
“Fulvia con noi”, which supports children with leukemia and their families;
“Oltre noi onlus”, committed to the construction of apartments without architectural barriers for people with disabilities;
“Associazione Dieci”, which is dedicated to supporting families in difficulty, in particular children and women victims of violence.
