Show “Don Chisciotte”
From Saturday 10 January 2026 to Sunday 11 January 2026

As part of the Crystal’s 23rd 2025-2026 theater season, “Don Chisciotte” by Compagnia Marionettistica Carlo Colla & Figli, directed by Franco Citterio and Giovanni Schiavolin, will be performed at the Crystal Theater in Lovere on Saturday 10 (8:45 PM) and Sunday 11 January 2026 (4:00 PM).
Don Chisciotte is the new show by the Compagnia di Carlo Colla & Figli, the largest and oldest puppet company in the world, active for over two centuries. Freely based on Cervantes’ novel and an 1879 manuscript script held in the Company’s archives, it features 95 puppets, including animals, 13 set changes, and over 490 square meters of painted paper, canvas, and tulle. Thus comes to life the protagonist Alonso Quijano, who proclaims himself Don Quixote de la Mancha and, through battles and adventures, pursues the idealized love of the beautiful Dulcinea, a nonexistent lady, a figment of his imagination. Dusty libraries juxtapose picaresque, sun-drenched landscapes, imaginary knights, windmills mistaken for warriors swinging swords and lances, princesses to be saved who are actually puppets of a troupe of storytellers. All this forms the backdrop for the two characters: the Knight with Rocinante, his gaunt steed, and the ruddy servant Sancho astride Grisotto, his fat, clumsy donkey. Protagonists and architects of a journey alternating between illusion and disillusionment, imagination and reality.
