Show “Sior Todero Brontolon”
From Saturday 20 December 2025 to Sunday 21 December 2025

As part of the Crystal’s 23rd 2025-2026 theatrical season, on Saturday 20th (20:45) and Sunday 21st December 2025 (16:00) the show “Sior Todero Brontolon” will be performed in Lovere at the Crystal Theatre with Franco Branciaroli by Carlo Goldoni and directed by Paolo Valerio.
Carlo Goldoni was amazed at how a work centered on such a hateful and negative character could have been so successful with the public. Indeed, from the beginning, Sior Todero brontolòn—written in 1761 and presented at the Teatro San Luca in Venice the following year—was warmly received. The protagonist is miserly, imperious, irritating to the servants, oppressive to his son and granddaughter, distrustful and touchy towards the world… it would seem impossible to empathize with him, yet Goldoni’s masterpiece—and the masterfully written character of Todero—have been highly sought after by the greatest theaters and actors alike. Now, a master of the contemporary stage like Franco Branciaroli, directed by Paolo Valerio, offers a new, extraordinary and unexpected interpretation. A reinterpretation of this classic of Italian theatre, yet still with much to offer contemporary sensibilities, it is poised to astonish audiences once again. Suffice it to think, given such an imposing and attractive protagonist, of the subtle and decisive role that Goldoni entrusts to the female world, the only one that appears fully positive in the development.
