Located in the Sellere-Pianico area in Val Borlezza, literally inside an 800,000-year-old lake, the Fossil Lakes Park allows the reconstruction of the history of vegetation and the climate of an Alpine interglacial through fossil leaves and pollen and sediments which have formed a long archive of layers: 45 thousand years of history concerning plants and animals of the Alps at the beginning of the glaciations, the Oglio glacier and the climate of the entire planet documenting one of the longest stone “calendars” in the world.
Initiative promoted by Hakuna Matata Lake Iseo with the patronage of:
– Municipality and Library of Sovere
– PAD – Percorsi Archeologici Diffusi Sebino, Val Cavallina e Val Seriana
