Passirano Castle

The Castle of Passirano is immediately recognizable from considerable distance thanks to its two semicircular towers on the south side, a square on the northwest corner and a large one on the east side. It is rectangular, with high and massive walls, stones and large pebbles in sight, without windows and with some rare loopholes; the Ghibelline battlements and the appendices on the eastern tower are an addition of the 19th century.

The fortification was probably built around 1100, as a refuge for the local population in case of barbarian attacks. Passed the castle in the hands of the counts Capriolo first, the Martinengo Colleoni and the Fenaroli then, the huts are reduced first to stables and then used as houses for the servants of the lord of the manor house “Fassati Barba”, built between the 16th and 17th centuries next to the castle.
