November is the month of the ‘Novello’ (new) olive oil on Lake Iseo, where traditions combine with the unique flavours of this region. It’s the time of year when the olives are harvested and pressed in the oil mills. This ancient ritual, repeated every year, brings with it the scents and colours of the hills of the Oil Cities. The growers, with great care at every stage of processing, return home satisfied with their work—and they have reason to be proud!
The DOP Laghi Lombardi olive oil, Sebino designation, is a small gem in Italian olive oil production. Its delicate and harmonious flavour goes perfectly with various dishes: appetisers, lake fish, carpaccio, cheeses, and vegetables. It is a versatile condiment, ideal for salads, pastas, soups and even some desserts.
To celebrate the arrival of the new oil, November offers two events not to be missed. Join these celebrations!
Olive Oil Festival in Monte Isola
From 23 to 30 November, the village of Siviano hosts a traditional event celebrating Monte Isola’s Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Throughout the week, you can discover local products, participate in tastings, and attend the award ceremony for the best ‘Novello’ olive oil 2024.
MoreNew Olive Oil Festival in Marone
From November 30 to December 1, Marone prepares for the ninth edition of the New Olive Oil and Wine & Food Festival. The lakeside promenade comes alive with an agri-food market dedicated to DOP Laghi Lombardi olive oil and other specialities and, in the evening, at Villa Vismara, enjoy a traditional dinner with dishes like artisanal cured meats, “casoncelli” with local butter, and Rovato-style beef with polenta. On Sunday, don’t miss the tastings offered by local producers.
