“La Casa del Jazz Italiano” – Simona Severini Recital
Sunday 30 June 2024 - h. 18:00
On Sunday 30th June, at 6 p.m., in the splendid setting of the sixteenth-century Church of San Pietro dei Disciplini, in Sale Marasino, the Casa del Jazz Italiano hosts the recital of one of the most original and interesting voices on the Italian jazz scene: Simona Severini. Her artistic choice is part of one of the expressive lines in which Italian jazz singing moves, that of the interest in the use of multiple sound materials, which in her case look to jazz as well as ancient music and the cultured French chanson of end of the nineteenth century, without forgetting the writing of original compositions that summarize this variety of interests.
A classically trained guitarist, she will accompany herself in this recital in which, in addition to original pieces, there are also songs by Duke Ellington, pieces by Carla Bley, arias by Monteverdi, Purcell, pop pieces by Joni Mitchell, addressed with the typical expressive freedom of jazz musicians, but also the rigor that derives from the awareness of their history and musical conception.
Free admission.
