Antonio Faccanoni Nursery School
Located near the parish church, the Antonio Faccanoni Nursery School is nestled in a quiet park and stands at the end of a lovely tree-lined road. Its intended use has never changed over the years, whereas the original structure has undergone considerable modifications. The interior has been completely transformed and little remains of the original architecture built between 1910 and 1912. The main entrance was altered with the replacement of the art nouveau style gate. Of Giuseppe Sommaruga’s original project, only the façade remains, reproposing several elements that are characteristic of his work: the selection of materials with colours differing from those of the facing to enhance the windows and doors; the floral band that runs under the eaves and links the small windows on the second floor; the short entrance staircase which leads to a different level from that of the road. The façade of the Antonio Faccanoni Nursery School is one of the five architectural works in Art Nouveau style in the town of Sarnico.
