Fernando Soardi, also known as Nando, is a professional fisherman who carries on the family tradition, now in the fourth generation.
Every morning, he gets on the naet – the typical boat of Lake Iseo with a tapered shape- and starts his work. He is responsible for the arrangement and preparation of the catch and is accompanied by his son Andrea, who assists him in fishing. For two years he has also been creating the bottarga of lake fish, providing directly to find the eggs, the salting and subsequent drying.
In Monte Isola the Soardi family owns the restaurant “Locanda al Lago”, where you can taste all the delicacies that the lake offers daily. The sardine fished by Nando is Slow Food Presidium and can be purchased in the district markets of the lake.
