Convento della Santissima Annunciata
The Convento della Santissima Annunciata in Rovato was founded in 1449 by the Order of the Servants of Mary on the slopes of Monte Orfano, the extreme border of Franciacorta. In 2019 the entire monastery complex was entrusted by the friars to the Moretti family. Since then, some of its areas have been restored with the aim of converting the structure into a modern “Wine Retreat”, a true hermitage designed to guarantee the benefits of a refreshing holiday thanks to the close contact with art and beauty, the authentic relationship with the territory and the immersion in silence.
The structure offers the possibility of lodging in the eleven cells of the monks, which have been made functional and contemporary through a project of conservative restoration respectful of the place, its origins and the values that have always characterized the hospitality of the friars. Small and large events can also be hosted in its spaces.
Today visitors can take part in guided tours of the convent and the ancient vineyard, which in the 1980s was entirely entrusted to the Bellavista winery. To complete the visit an on-site tasting of the 100% Chardonnay “Convento della Santissima Annunciata” is offered, as a way to provide a first-hand experience of the flagship product of the Convent and a concrete example of the concept of “cru”.
