Salami and Fresh Meats
Whilst discovering the tasty, traditional products of Lake Iseo and Franciacorta, we certainly cannot miss out our delicious cold meats or meat, game and poultry dishes.
Salami, seasoned pork shoulder, soppressa (pressed meat), and bacon are all typical starters in restaurants and farmhouses. Beef and pork meat are used for succulent roast and braised meat.
In winter, a taste of cotechino (boiled pork sausage) is a must. Sulzano holds a wild boar festival between September and October; its restaurants offer delicious stewed boar with polenta or wild boar salami. On festive occasions you can always find one of the favourite traditional dishes: spiedo, meat roasted on a spit.
Away from the lakeshore, Monte Isola’s farming spirit is most felt in the tiny villages of Senzano and Cure where, still today, the traditional production of Monte Isola’s Salami is kept alive.
