The path/ Der Weg

The route starts in Via XXV Aprile/SP 10 at a parking area at the beginning of the town Cellatica. Continue in the direction of Gussago. (If you are trained enough, you can detour to the Sanctuary Madonna della Stella along a 2.5 km road with a 15/20% gradient).

At the traffic lights turn left into Via Carabioli and take a paved road that first runs alongside the industrial area and then continues through fields. Pass a small bridge and turn right to a stop sign, following the several signs for the cycle path to Paratico. At the end of Via Sale – a hamlet of Gussago with its medieval and renaissance houses – follow the signs for the cycle path one last time, turning left off it at the small roundabout into Via Monticello and then right at the next roundabout into Via Valia. Right on the bend (pay attention), turn left into a narrow tree-lined road – Via Staffoli – where signs of the cycle path to Paratico are to be found again.

A pleasant road through wheat fields and vineyards takes you across a wooden bridge towards the long and ancient wall of Rodengo Saiano’s Abbey: a visit and a stop are a must to admire the S. Nicola’s Church and its cloisters. After getting back on your bike again, take Via Brescia and continue downhill through the underpass and the centre of Rodengo Saiano to a first roundabout where you turn right into Via Ponte Cingoli and Via Risorgimento and pass through the whole village. A small narrow section (with Chiesa di S. Rocco on the right) takes you via Gussago. Continue to a roundabout and onto Via S. Zenone (Santissima Sanctuary is in front of you on its hill) and then Via Ronco.

The road climbs slightly and, after Ronco di Gussago cemetery, turn right at the first crossroads to circumnavigate the Santissima on a dirt road (3 km).

This takes you along the hill to the little Church of S. Gaetano Santolino to Via Pinidolo, at the end of which you turn left into Via Nava and, after the stop sign, Via Richiedei, once again turn left. In Piazza Vittorio Veneto, the imposing Parish Church of S. Maria Assunta with its marble staircase and two lions, is visible in front of you. Turn right into Via IV Novembre and then follow the road signs for Cellatica and Brescia. Via De Gasperi brings you back to the starting point once again.

DE – Die Route beginnt in der Via XXV Aprile/SP 10 an einem Parkplatz am Eingang von Cellatica. Man fährt weiter in Richtung Gussago (unterwegs, wenn man gut trainiert ist, kann man einen Abstecher machen und die Wallfahrtskirche Madonna della Stella erreichen, indem man auf einer Straße von 2,5 km mit einer Steigung von 15/20% bergauf geht).

An der Ampel biegt manlinks in die Via Carabioli ein und nimmt eine asphaltierte Straße, die zuerst das Industriegebiet flankiert und dann in die Felder führt. Nach einer kleinen Brücke biegt man rechts bis zum Stoppschild ab und folgt dann den zahlreichen Hinweisschildern des Radweges nach Paratico. Am Ende der Via Sale, einem Weiler von Gussago mit mittelalterlichen Häusern und Renaissancepalästen, folgt man ein letztes Mal der Beschilderung des Radwegs, den man bald verlassen wird, indem man beim kleinen Kreisverkehr in der Via Monticello und beim nächsten Kreisverkehr links abbiegt rechts in Via Valia. Gleich in der Kurve (pass auf!) biegt man links in eine schmale, von Bäumen gesäumte Straße ab, über Staffoli, wo man die Beschilderung für den Radweg nach Paratico findet.

Eine angenehme Straße zwischen Weizenfeldern und Weinbergen führt, nachdem man eine Holzbrücke überquert hat, zur langen und alten Grenzmauer des Klosterkomplexes von Rodengo Saiano: Ein Besuch und ein Halt sind ein Muss, um die Kirche S. Nicola und den Kreuzgang zu bewundern . Man steigt wieder auf das Fahrrad und tritt die Rückfahrt an. Man nimmt die Via Brescia und nach der Unterführung bergab fährt weiter ins Zentrum von Rodengo Saiano bis zum ersten Kreisverkehr, wo man rechts in die Via Ponte Cingoli und die Via Risorgimento abbiegt und die ganze Stadt durchquert. Nach einer kleinen Engstelle (rechts sieht man die Kirche S. Rocco) befindet sich masn in der Via Gussago. Man geht weiter bis zum Kreisverkehr, weiter in die Via S. Zenone (auf dem Hügel steht das Santuario della Santissima) und dann in die Via Ronco.

Die Straße steigt leicht an und nach dem Friedhof im Weiler Ronco di Gussago biegt man an der ersten Kreuzung rechts ab, um sich der Umrundung der Santissima auf einem Schotterweg zu stellen (Radweg und Lebensweg 3 km).

Man kommt, immer in der Nähe des Hügels, an der kleinen Kirche S. Gaetano Santolino an, bis man die Via Pinidolo erreicht, an deren Ende man links abbiegt und die Via Nava nach dem Stoppschild in die Via Richiedei führt, immer auf der linken Seite ; Man sieht auf der Piazza Vittorio Veneto die imposante Pfarrkirche S. Maria Assunta mit ihrer Marmortreppe und den beiden Löwen. Man biegt rechts in die Via IV Novembre ein und folgt dann den Straßenschildern nach Cellatica und Brescia. Via De Gasperi führt zurück nach Cellatica zum Ausgangspunkt.

From the A4 motorway (Milan – Brescia): exit at Ospitaletto. From the toll booth, take the SP19 towards Concesio and exit at Gussago, then follow the signs for the center of Cellatica.

DE – Von der Autobahn A4 (Mailand – Brescia): Ausfahrt Ospitaletto. Von der Mautstelle nimmt man die SP19 in Richtung Concesio und fährt bei Gussago ab, dann folgt man den Schildern zum Zentrum von Cellatica.
