This itinerary is suitable for families and follows accessible roads through the vineyards. It is easy to follow and the difference in height is very little.

The path

The itinerary starts near Borgonato’s oratory, dedicated to Saints Francis and Clare in Via Cavour, with a parking space, and a train station approximately 300 metres away. Continue westwards along Via Cavour, after a narrow passage it is possible to admire S. Vitale’s Church on the hill, with its characteristic belltower in a raised position. At the end of the vineyard take the road flanked by a stone wall which winds its way through the fields in a northerly direction, passing a concrete canal.

At the entrance to the quarry with its ditch and small lake, continue between two metal fences and, half an hour after the itinerary has started, pass the Cascina Luogonuovo. You will soon encounter the small Church Madonna dell’Inquine, where the road continues gently downhill, becoming paved. The views in front of you include the clear limestone strata of Monte della Madonna and the Madonna del Corno Church. 50 minutes after the start, you reach the road which links Provaglio d’Iseo with Timoline; Provaglio d’Iseo train station is located nearby.

Turn off left onto and follow the road to Timoline for 100 metres before turning left once again on the gravel cycle track. A few minutes later you come out on a wide ridge with views opening up to the north in the direction of the vineyards, the peat bogs, Lake Iseo and the mountains around it. Just a little further on there is S. Carlo’s Church,  with a recently restored farmhouse next to it which you can pass, continuing the itinerary. The road bears right and crosses the Provaglio d’Iseo road once again, but the route continues right away on the Via del Pozzo gravel track in the direction of the Timoline belltower. At the end of Via Pozzo take Via Mario Gatti in a southerly direction, passing a white-and-crimson-coloured building and continuing to a junction where you turn right and continue along a metal fence back to the quarry area again, between two small lakes.

Follow the main road to Borgonato and cross over the concrete canal before turning to complete the circuit. At the end of the stone wall turn right and, after fifty metres, turn onto Via Ignazio Berlucchi, between walls and rows of oaks, and continue into the vineyards. At the end of the trees the main road bends and continues to a col between two wooded hills. The road follows the edge of the vineyard, moves closer to the railway tracks and continues along them northwards between the hill and the houses to return to the starting point.

DE- Die Route  beginnt in der Nähe des Oratoriums Borgonato, das den Heiligen Franziskus und Klara gewidmet ist und sich in der Via Cavour befindet, wo sich auch ein Parkplatz und, etwa 300 Metern entfernt, der Bahnhof befinden. Man begeht die Via Cavour weiter nach Westen, vorbei an einer Engstelle, hinter der man die Kirche S. Vitale auf dem Hügel bewundern kann, mit dem charakteristischen Glockenturm, der sich in einer höheren Position befindet. Am Ende des Weinbergs nimmt man die von einer Steinmauer flankierte Straße, die nach Norden in die Felder führt und einen zementierten Kanal überquert.

Wenn man den Eingang zum Steinbruch erreicht, der durch eine Senke mit einem kleinen Teich gekennzeichnet ist, läuft man zwischen zwei Metallnetzen hindurch und nach etwa einer halben Stunde nach dem Start geht man das Bauernhaus Luogonuovo vorbei. Bald stoßt man auf die kleine Kirche der Madonna dell’Inquine und die Straße führt leicht bergab und weicht dem Asphalt. Gegenüber kann man die deutlich sichtbaren Kalksteinschichten des Monte della Madonna und die Kirche der Madonna del Corno bewundern. Etwa 50 Minuten nach dem Start erreicht man die Kreuzung mit der Straße, die Provaglio d’Iseo mit Timoline verbindet, in deren Nähe sich der Bahnhof von Provaglio d’Iseo befindet.

Man biegt links in Richtung Westen ab und folgt der Straße nach Timoline für etwa hundert Meter, dann biegt man erneut links ab und folgt dem unbefestigten Radweg. Nach wenigen Minuten erreicht man den breiten Kamm und blickt nach Norden auf die Weinberge, das Naturschutzgebiet Torbiere, den Iseosee und die umliegenden Berge. Etwas weiter stößt man auf die S. Carlo geweihte Kirche mit dem angrenzenden kürzlich restaurierten Bauernhaus und geht daran vorbei. Die Straße biegt nach rechts ab und überquert erneut die Auffahrt Provaglio d’Iseo – Timoline, geht aber sofort weiter auf dem Schotterweg Via del Pozzo, der zum Glockenturm von Timoline führt. Am Ende der Via del Pozzo geht man in südlicher Richtung die Via Mario Gatti entlang, an einem Gebäude in Weiß und Burgunderrot vorbei bis zu einer Kreuzung; Rechts haltend und das Metallgitter flankierend betritt man wieder das Steinbruchgebiet zwischen zwei Wasserbecken.

Man folgt der Hauptstraße, die zum Dorf Borgonato führt, den zementierten Kanal passiert und dann eine Biegung macht, um den Ring zu schließen. Man biegt am Ende der Steinmauer rechts ab und nimmt nach etwa fünfzig Metern die Via Ignazio Berlucchi, zwischen Mauern und Eichenreihen, und man betritt die Weinberge. Am Ende der Reihe macht die Hauptstraße eine Biegung und zeigt auf einen Pass zwischen zwei bewaldeten Hügeln. Die Straße folgt der Kontur des Weinbergs, nähert sich den Gleisen und verläuft entlang dieser in nördlicher Richtung zwischen dem Hügel und den Häusern zurück zum Ausgangspunkt.

By car from Brescia: on the SP 510, take the exit for Camignone centro and follow the signs for Corte Franca until you reach the Borgonato-Adro station.
