Alternative itinerary, and highly recommended, to reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola through the medieval villages of Novale, Olzano, Masse and Cure. It is particularly suitable for families with children and for those seeking tranquility; the path is well maintained, so it does not present any particular difficulties.

Es eignet sich besonders für Familien mit Kindern und Ruhesuchende; Der Fuß des Weges ist gut gepflegt und weist daher keine besonderen Schwierigkeiten auf.

The trail / der Weg

Disembarking in Carzano, cross the village upstream, following the signs for path number 3 and Novale. The road, steep and well paved, leads in a few minutes to the village of Novale. 

The mule track becomes a path and winds between olive groves and breathtaking views of the Island of Loreto and Upper Lake Iseo. Once you reach the center of Olzano, continue along the road that turns left uphill and, shortly after, near the bus stop, becomes a path in the woods to the town of Masse. Once in the center of Masse, the path continues to the right of the Church of San Rocco. The road, sometimes paved and sometimes mule track, goes up the hill through woods and beautiful green meadows, and arrives in a short time outside the town of Cure.

From here, turn left on the mule track and in about twenty minutes reach the Sanctuary of the Madonna della Ceriola, from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the lake and the surrounding area.

DE – In Carzano angekommen, durchquert man das Dorf in Richtung Berg und folgt dabei den Schildern zum Weg Nr. 3 und nach Novale. Die steile und gut gepflasterte Straße führt in wenigen Minuten zum Dorf Novale.

Der Saumpfad verwandelt sich manchmal in einen Pfad und schlängelt sich durch Olivenhaine und bietet atemberaubende Ausblicke auf die Insel Loreto und den oberen Iseosee. Sobald man das Zentrum von Olzano erreicht hat, folgt man der Straße weiter, die nach links bergauf führt und kurz darauf, in der Nähe der Bushaltestelle, in einen Waldweg übergeht, der bis zum Dorf Masse führt. Im Zentrum von Masse angekommen, führt die Route rechts neben der Kirche San Rocco weiter. Die Straße, manchmal asphaltiert und manchmal ein Saumpfad, führt zwischen Wäldern und wunderschönen grünen Wiesen den Hügel hinauf und erreicht schnell die Stadt Cure.

Von hier aus biegt man links auf den Saumpfad ab und erreicht in etwa zwanzig Minuten die Wallfahrtskirche Madonna della Ceriola, von der aus man einen atemberaubenden Blick auf den See und die Umgebung genießen kann.

How to arrive and where to park / Anreise und Parkplätze

For this itinerary it is recommended to park in Sale Marasino, where you can embark for Monte Isola (Carzano) every twenty minutes.

The car parks of Sale Marasino are charged using the “Gratta e Sosta” mode. The card can be purchased at the shops in the center, or through the MyCicero App.

DE – Für diese Route ist es empfehlenswert, in Sale Marasino zu parken, wo es etwa alle zwanzig Minuten eine Fähre nach Monte Isola (Carzano) gibt.
