The path/Der Weg

The starting point is the historic center of Capriolo near the Church of San Giorgio, with the climb to the Castle and towards the Santella della Costa (Church of the Alpini) of Capriolo. Take the straightforward uphill footpath and continue with beautiful views over the area below. At a junction soon afterwards bear right. Continue on the main path, ignoring minor turns off, to a further junction where you turn left to yet another junction soon afterwards. In the woods now, turn right onto a footpath blocked to vehicle access by a bar. Continue to Stallone, a historic stone farmhouse, and turn left, climbing to the peak of Monte Alto with its unique views of Lake Iseo, the Franciacorta and its moraine cirque, Monte Orfano and the Apennines. After a break the route starts to descend, passing the cross on the peak and continuing along the footpath in the opposite direction to the one you arrived on. Continue descending, ignoring minor paths off and the various local town waymarks, to the junction to the footpath with metal barrier you passed on the way out. Keep straight on, then, retracing your steps now back to Santella della Costa, your starting point.

DE- Ausgangspunkt ist das historische Zentrum von Capriolo in der Nähe der Kirche San Giorgio, mit dem Aufstieg zum Schloss und zur Santella della Costa (Kirche der Alpini) von Capriolo. Hier nimmt man den bergauf führenden Weg, dem man ohne besondere Schwierigkeiten folgen kann, und genießt dabei schöne Ausblicke auf die Umgebung. Kurz darauf kommt man zu einer Kreuzung, an der man sich rechts halten muss, um weiterzukommen. Man geht auf dem Hauptweg weiter, ohne auf die verschiedenen Nebenwege zu achten, bis man zu einer weiteren Kreuzung kommt, an der man nach links abbiegt und kurz darauf eine weitere erreicht. Inzwischen inmitten des Waldes biegt man rechts ab und nimmt den Pfad mit der Metallschranke, die den Durchgang für Autos versperrt.

Es geht weiter bis zum Ort Stallone, einem alten Bauernhaus aus Stein, wo man links abbiegt, um weiter bergauf zu wandern, bis der Gipfel des Monte Alto erreicht wird, wo sich ein einzigartiges Panorama eröffnet: Man kann den Iseosee, das Gebiet der Franciacorta und den sie prägenden Moränenkreis, den Monte Orfano und den Apennin am Horizont bewundern. Nach einer Pause kann man den Abstieg antreten, vorbei am Gipfelkreuz und weiter auf dem Pfad auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Weges, den man heraufgestiegen ist. Man wandert weiter bergab, ignoriert alle Nebenwege und die verschiedenen Hinweisschilder zu den Nachbargemeinden, bis zu einer Weggabelung wo der Weg durch die Metallstange versperrt ist, die auf dem Hinweg überquert wurde. Weiter geht es geradeaus auf der bereits begangenen Straße kehrt man zur „Santella della Costa“, dem Ausgangspunkt der Wanderung, zurück.
