The path/Der Weg

The starting point of the excursion is Via Santo Stefano, near the Sanctuary of the Madonna di S. Stefano, where there is also a parking space. After visiting the church, climb the clear cobbled road to the Annunciata Monastery, after which the road continues to reach Rovato’s war memorial and Alpini’s Hut, where it gives way to a footpath and continues a little further to the Genovesina farmhouse with its wide open views over the vineyards below in the direction of Coccaglio.

Continuing along the ridge – with wide open views over Franciacorta and the Alpine foothills – you reach the “Madonnina” and then a helicopter landing area in the fields near the peak, called “Croce Villa di Erbusco”, a good place to stop for a break.

Continue again along the ridge to an paved road, which you then follow as it descends to the village of Cologne. Follow the forest trail on the left, which emerges in Via Fratelli Facchetti. Turn left here and continue along the cycle track to Via Brodo di Cappone, near a shrine where you take a gravel footpath on your right skirting, the Seriola Fusia stream. Bearing left on this, continue along fields and vineyards with views of Monte Orfano.

After Cologne, continue along the same footpath past Coccaglio village. The route ends near a small bridge which you do not cross, bearing right along Via Pie di Monte, which climbs gently to the starting point at Sanctuary of the Madonna di S. Stefano.

DE- Der Ausgangspunkt des Ausflugs ist die Via Santo Stefano, in der Nähe der Wallfahrtskirche Madonna di S. Stefano, wo sich auch ein Parkplatz befindet. Nachdem man das schöne Heiligtum besucht hat, geht man die offensichtliche asphaltierte Straße zum Kloster der Annunciata hinauf, dann weiter auf der Straße zum Heiligtum der Gefallenen von Rovato und der Hütte der Alpini, wo die Straße in einen Pfad übergeht, und Etwas weiter erreicht man das Bauernhaus Genovesina, mit weitem Blick auf die darunter liegenden Weinberge in Richtung Coccaglio.

Wenn man auf dem Grat vorankommt, mit weitem Blick über Franciacorta und die Voralpen, erreicht man die “Madonnina” und dann einen Hubschrauberlandeplatz in der Nähe des Gipfels, genannt “Croce Villa di Erbusco”.

Auf dieser bequemen Liegewiese ist eine Pause möglich. Man folgt dem Kamm bis zur Asphaltstraße, um ihr bergab in Richtung Cologne zu folgen, das man über einen Pfad erreicht, der links durch den Wald führt und in der Via Fratelli Facchetti endet. Man biegt hier links ab und führt auf dem Radweg bis zur Via Brodo di Cappone weiter, die sich in Korrespondenz mit einer Santella befindet, kurz nachdem man sie nach rechts auf einen unbefestigten Weg entlang der Seriola Fusia genommen hat. Diesen immer links haltend, geht es entlang der Felder und Weinberge weiter und genießt verschiedene Ausblicke auf den Monte Orfano.

Auf diese Weise passiert man die Gemeinde Cologne und auf dem gleichen Weg weitergehend auch die von Coccaglio. Die Route endet in der Nähe einer kleinen Brücke, überquert man diese nicht und hält sich rechts, indem man die Via Pie di Monte entlanggeht, die leicht ansteigend zurück zur Wallfahrtskirche Madonna di S. Stefano führt, dem Ausgangspunkt.
