Walking from Bossico to the Shrine of San Giovanni in Monte Cala
The path/Der Weg
A nice walk from the center of Bossico leads along the ancient road to Lovere and in particular to the small church of San Giovanni in Monte Cala. From Piazza S. Pietro, take Via IV Novembre until the intersection with Via Per Lovere after the cemetery, and proceed along the road on the right which becomes a path, up to a Santella located at a crossroad. Continue along the path on the right downhill towards Passo delle Croci. Once you reach the foothills of the mountain, on which the 15th-century Sanctuary of San Giovanni is built, keep the right up to the staircase; the route ends at the end of the staircase from which you can enjoy a breathtaking view. Continuing the descent, however, you arrive at the town of Lovere.
DE – Der Spaziergang führt vom Zentrum von Bossico entlang der alten Straße nach Lovere und insbesondere zur kleinen Kirche San Giovanni in Monte Cala. Nehmen Sie von der Piazza S. Pietro die Via IV Novembre bis zur Kreuzung mit der Via Per Lovere, und folgen Sie der Straße rechts, die in einen Weg übergeht. Folgen Sie den Weg bis zu einer Santella an einer Kreuzung. Weiter geht es auf dem Weg rechts bergab in Richtung Passo delle Croci. Sobald Sie den Fuß des Berges erreicht haben, auf dem sich die Wallfahrtskirche San Giovanni aus dem 15. Jahrhundert befindet, gehen Sie rechts hinauf bis zur Treppe. Die Route endet am Ende der Treppe, von der aus Sie eine atemberaubende Aussicht genießen können. Wenn Sie jedoch den Abstieg fortsetzen, erreichen Sie die Stadt von Lovere.
How to arrive and where to park/Anreise und Parkplatz
Follow the directions for Lake Iseo and then for Lovere. Take the SP 53 della Valle Borlezza and continue following the signs for Bossico.
At the entrance of the town, turn right and follow the way to the sports field.
DE- Man muss den Anfahrtsbeschreibungen für den Iseosee und dann für Lovere folgen. Man nimmt die SP 53 des Borlezza-Tals (Valle Borlezza) und folgt den Schildern nach Bossico.
Am Eingang des Dorfs biegt man rechts bis zum Sportplatz.
