This itinerary is a route of exceptional landscape importance, with breathtaking views of the lake among farmhouses, meadows, pine forests and rural villages.

The trail / der Weg

The departure is in Corso Europa in Sarnico, where it is possible to leave the car in the parking lot in front of the cemetery. Going along the provincial road towards Bergamo, you arrive in Villongo and turn right towards Adrara San Martino. Along the way there are the ancient rural structure of Castel Merlo and, not far away, the Romanesque church dedicated to St. Alexander. Continuing on the provincial road, you cross Adrara San Martino and Adrara San Rocco. After this last centre, you go up towards the panoramic hills of San Fermo. Along the ridge that develops to the right, at km 9, immediately after crossing a small bridge, turn left following the signs for the “Strada Verde”. Go along the dirt road (2 km for experts with a first section of steps) to the church of San Faustino, then, at the end of the short descent, you find yourself on the asphalt to the left. Before the 15 km sign, take Via Cascina del Monte on the right and, at the crossroads, turn right again.

A few more rides and the effort is over: in fact, the long descent begins – sometimes dirt and sometimes paved – which, passing from Vigolo to Parzanica, arrives in Tavernola Bergamasca. Along the coastal road you return to the starting point.

DE – Der Ausgangspunkt ist am Corso Europa in Sarnico, wo es möglich ist, das Auto auf dem Parkplatz vor dem Friedhof abzustellen. Auf der Provinzstraße in Richtung Bergamo kommt man in Villongo an und biegt rechts in Richtung Adrara San Martino ab. Man kann die alte ländliche Struktur von Castel Merlo und, nicht weit entfernt, die romanische Kirche, die dem Hl. Alexander geweiht ist, beobachten. Weiter auf der Provinzstraße überquert man Adrara San Martino und Adrara San Rocco. Nach diesem letzten Zentrum geht es hinauf zu den malerischen Hügeln von San Fermo, einem beliebten Ort für Freiflugbegeisterte. Auf dem sich nach rechts entwickelnden Kamm, bei km 9, gleich nach dem Überqueren einer kleinen Brücke biegt man links ab und folgt der Beschilderung “Strada Verde”. Man fährt auf dem Schotterweg (2 km für Könner mit einer ersten Stufe) bis zur Kirche San Faustino, dann am Ende des kurzen Abstiegs links auf der asphaltierten Straße. Vor dem 15 km-Schild rechts in die Via Cascina del Monte einbiegen und an der Kreuzung wieder rechts abbiegen.

Der anstrengende Teil ist fast vorbei: Tatsächlich beginnt der lange Abstieg (manchmal Schotter und manchmal Asphalt), der von Vigolo nach Parzanica führt und in Tavernola Bergamasca ankommt. Entlang der Küstenstraße kehrt man zum Ausgangspunkt zurück.
