The path/Der Weg

In ISEO (Via per Rovato), turn right along the cycle path to Via Colombera, with views of the “Lamette” protected area and Lake Iseo on your right, and the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve on your left. At the end of Via Colombera, cross the provincial road and follow signs for CREMIGNANE.

At the end of a short ascent continue downhill to cross the provincial road once again, take the gently uphill narrow road in front of you and continue along the road, keeping the shopping mall to the right. At the crossroad turn left and then left again (here the road becomes a dirt track) to join the Brescia-Paratico cycle path, which runs along the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve (2.5 km of dirt track). At the end of the dirt track turn left towards PROVAGLIO D’ISEO’s railway station, crossing the railway line and remaining on the cycle path. There is a short climb that brings you out at the “Santella” roundabout, where you turn left to reach the Monastery San Pietro in Lamosa. A visit to the monastery is a must before you continue southwards and, again at the “Santella” roundabout, continue straight ahead, turning left at the next roundabout. Continue for 100 metres before turning right along the Brescia-Paratico cycle path which winds – with short ups and downs – through the hills and Provaglio d’Iseo’s industrial area. At the stop sign keep straight along Via Marana and then Via Franciacorta. A slight climb of 300 metres takes to the road which bears right, still slightly uphill, towards MONTEROTONDO on Via Mameli.

Before the centre of this small village turn left into Via San Giorgio, passing under an arch and descend, bearing right. At the stop sign turn left, still following signs for the Brescia-Paratico cycle path on a long descent to PASSIRANO’S roundabout, where you turn left following signs for CAMIGNONE and, after about 1 km, get to Barboglio district. Continue to the roundabout, turn right into the village centre and continue to the traffic lights. Turn right into Via Chiesa and then into Via Diaz before turning right once again into Via Risorgimento, which narrows after a bend.

Continue through the village and, after passing a majestic villa, turn right at the cycle track sign on a road through the vineyards that winds, slightly uphill, to the end of Via San Martino. At the stop sign turn left towards the centre of Passirano, returning to Via Diaz, and then follow Via Marconi.

At the crossroads turn right into Via Garibaldi, which runs through the centre, passing in front of the town hall and the parish church. The next street, Via Libertà, is gently uphill and bears left towards Via Castello, where a tree-lined avenue provides views Passirano’s Castle, to the right, and the walls of Villa Fassati Barba to the left. After the castle turn left onto Via Parri, which is narrow and downhill.

At the end of the street turn right into Via Roma, cycle slightly downhill and pass the level crossing before turning left in the direction of Paderno Franciacorta. Emerge on Via Cavour in farmland, noting the first Alpine foothills in the distance to the left, to the village’s first roundabout. The parish church is visible to the left. Continue straight ahead through the centre following signs for Castegnato.For the next few kilometres you are cycling through residential areas and countryside. At the roundabout between Via del Pavione and Via Cascina Croce, take Via Trento. After the industrial area, just before the sign indicating the end of PADERNO FRANCIACORTA, turn left into Via Tre Cortili. Cross a dirt road and continue towards a group of farmhouses to a stop sign on Via Giardini. Keep right, returning to the asphalt road, and cross the level crossing. Continue along a tree-lined avenue through farmland to a crossroads, where you bear right to a sign for RODENGO SAIANO. Turn left uphill at the roundabout and, after passing the overpass, turn left towards the centre of the village and San Nicola’s Abbey (one of the most impressive monastic complexes in Italy and packed with art treasures). After visiting the abbey, take Via Brescia and, after taking the underpass, continue through the centre of Rodengo Saiano to the first roundabout. The road for Monticelli Brusati/Ome is in front of you. You are in Via Dionigi and, after a winery building, turn left into Via Cantarane, cycling for a long stretch along the imposing wall of Villa Fenaroli. When the road rejoins the Provincial Road 46, turn left and proceed as far as the roundabout. Turn left again towards MONTICELLI BRUSATI until you get to the Borgo del Maglio in OME on the left, where you can stop for a visit or to rest a while in the adjacent park. Wind through the vineyards and take the narrow road to the right to the Locality Villa, passing through the interesting historic village of the same name. At the stop sign, turn right and follow the signs for the centre of the village to Torre hamlet. Go straight through the roundabout and turn left for Provezze, along a pleasant road surrounded by vineyards. Pass Palazzo Pisa on the left, where you can turn off a moment to the historic district of Persaga.

The main route takes to the roundabout in the Locality Provezze, where you continue straight ahead on the main road. After the first uphill bend, you can also turn off briefly to the historic district of Sergnana. Continuing along your route, you will reach Zurane. After the hamlet turn right at the stop sign onto Via Matteotti, turning right at the end of it into the centre of PROVAGLIO D’ISEO on Via Sebina. At the roundabout near the car park of the Monastery San Pietro in Lamosa turn left into Via Stazione Vecchia to the “Santella” roundabout, where you turn right. After crossing the level crossing, turn right to rejoin the route along the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve. Follow this road to CREMIGNANE.

Retrace your first steps on this route (Via Colombera) for a few kilometres to return to your starting point, after a cycle ride of about 40 km.

DE – In ISEO (Via per Rovato) nimmt man den Radweg nach rechts, bis man die Via Colombera erreicht, wo man rechts die “Lamette” und den Iseosee und links das Naturschutzgebiet Torbiere del Sebino bewundern kann. Am Ende der Via Colombera überquert man die Provinzstraße auf dem Fußgängerüberweg und folgt der Beschilderung nach CREMIGNANE.

Am Ende des kurzen Anstiegs geht es weiter bergab, um die Provinzstraße erneut am Fußgängerüberweg zu überqueren, man nimmt eine schmale, leicht ansteigende Straße und folgt der Straße weiter, wobei man das Einkaufszentrum zu unserer Rechten hält. An der Kreuzung biegt man links und dann wieder links ab (hier wird die Straße zu einem unbefestigten Weg), um auf den Radweg Brescia-Paratico zu gelangen, der am Naturschutzgebiet Torbiere del Sebino entlang verläuft (2,5 km unbefestigter Weg). Am Ende der unbefestigten Straße biegt man links in Richtung des Bahnhofs PROVAGLIO D’ISEO ab, überquert die Gleise und bleibt auf dem Radweg. Man steht vor einem kleinen Anstieg, der zum Kreisverkehr “Santella” führt, wo man links abbiegt, um das Kloster San Pietro in Lamosa zu erreichen. Nach der notwendigen Besichtigung des Klosters fährt man weiter nach Süden und am Kreisverkehr “Santella” geradeaus, während man am nächsten links abbiegt. Man fährt 100 Meter weiter, bis man rechts auf den Radweg Brescia-Paratico abbiegt, der sich mit leichtem Auf und Ab durch die Hügel und das Industriegebiet von Provaglio d’Iseo schlängelt. Am Stoppschild weiter geradeaus Via Marana und dann Via Franciacorta: Durch eine leichte Steigung von 300 Metern, erreicht man die Straße, die immer noch leicht ansteigend nach rechts in Richtung MONTEROTONDO in Via Mameli führt.

Vor dem Ortseingang biegt man links in die Via San Giorgio ein und nachdem man unter einem Bogen hindurchgefahren ist, geht man rechts bergab. Am Stoppschild links abbiegen und weiter den Schildern zum Radweg Brescia-Paratico folgen, dessen lange Abfahrt uns zum Kreisverkehr PASSIRANO führt; Man biegt links ab und folgt den Schildern nach CAMIGNONE. Nach etwa 1 km erreicht man den Ortsteil Barboglio. Man fährt weiter bis zum Kreisverkehr, biegt rechts in Richtung Stadtzentrum ab und fährt weiter bis zur Ampel. Man biegt rechts in die Via Chiesa und dann in die Via Diaz ein, wieder rechts in die Via Risorgimento, die sich nach einer Kurve verengt.

Wir geht weiter in das Dorf und nachdem man an einer majestätischen Villa vorbeigefahren ist, biegt man an der Markierung des Radwegs rechts ab und folgt der Straße zwischen den Weinbergen, die sich leicht bergauf bis zum Ende der Via San Martino windet. Am Stoppschild links in Richtung Passirano Zentrum abbiegen, zurück zur Via Diaz und dann der Via Marconi folgen.

An der Kreuzung biegt man rechts in die Via Garibaldi ein, die das Zentrum durchquert und am Rathaus und der Pfarrkirche vorbeiführt. Die folgende leicht ansteigende Via Libertà führt nach links in Richtung Via Castello, wo man von einer von Bäumen gesäumten Allee rechts das Schloss von Passirano und links die Mauern der Villa Fassati Barba bewundern kann. Nachdem man sie passiert hat, biegt man links in die Via Parri ein, eng und bergab.

Am Ende der Straße biegt man rechts in die Via Roma ein, radelt leicht bergab und nachdem man den Bahnübergang passiert hat, biegt man links in Richtung Paderno Franciacorta ab. Man betritt die Via Cavour zwischen bebauten Feldern und bemerkt links im Hintergrund die ersten Ausläufer der Voralpen, bis man den ersten Kreisverkehr der Stadt erreicht, wo man die Pfarrkirche auf der linken Seite sieht. Man fährt geradeaus in Richtung Zentrum und folgt den Schildern nach Castegnato. Einige Kilometer radelt man zwischen Wohngebieten und Land. Am Kreisverkehr zwischen Via del Pavione und Via Cascina Croce nimmt man die Via Trento. Nach dem Handwerkerbereich, kurz vor dem Schild, das das Ende von PADERNO FRANCIACORTA anzeigt, biegt man links in die Via Tre Cortili ein. Man überquert eine unbefestigte Straße und bewegt sich auf eine Gruppe von Bauernhäusern zu, bis man am Stoppschild die Via Giardini überquert. Man hält sich rechts, kehrt auf die asphaltierte Straße zurück und überquert den Bahnübergang. Man gehtweiter auf einer von Bäumen gesäumten Straße inmitten der bebauten Felder und kommt zu einer Kreuzung, wo man sich rechts hält, bis man das Schild RODENGO SAIANO erreicht. Man nimmt den Kreisverkehr bergauf und bewegt sich nach der Überführung links in Richtung Stadtzentrum und der Abtei von San Nicola (einer der beeindruckendsten Klosteranlagen Italiens, reich an Kunstschätzen). Nach einem Besuch der Abtei nimmt man die Via Brescia und fährt nach der Talunterführung weiter ins Zentrum von Rodengo Saiano bis zum ersten Kreisverkehr. Man folgt der Straße nach Monticelli Brusati/Ome. Man befindet sich in der Via Dionigi und biegt, nachdem man das Gebäude eines Kellers erreicht hat, links in die Via Cantarane ein, wobei man ein langes Stück an der imposanten Mauer der Villa Fenaroli vorbeigeht. Wenn die Straße wieder auf die Provinzstraße 46 trifft, biegt man links ab und fährt weiter bis zum Kreisverkehr. Man biegt wieder links nach MONTICELLI BRUSATI ab, bis man links auf den Borgo del Maglio di OME trifft, wo man für einen Besuch oder eine Pause im angrenzenden Park anhalten kann. Nach einigen Kurven durch die Weinberge nimmt man die schmale Straße rechts nach Villa und durchquert das interessante alte Dorf mit dem gleichen Namen. Man biegt am Stoppschild rechts ab, folgt den Schildern zum Stadtzentrum und erreicht den Weiler Torre. Man passiert den Kreisverkehr und biegt links in Richtung PROVEZZE ab, entlang einer angenehmen Straße, die von Weinbergen umgeben ist. Links flankiert man den Palazzo Pisa, wo ein Abstecher in das antike Viertel Persaga möglich ist.

Die Hauptroute führt stattdessen zum Kreisverkehr von Provezze, von wo aus man geradeaus auf der Hauptstraße weiterfährt. Nach der ersten Bergkurve kann man noch einen Abstecher in den antiken Ortsteil Sergnana machen. Stattdessen setzt man den Weg fort, nimmt einen angenehmen Abstieg und erreicht Zurane. Nachdem man den Weiler passiert hat, biegt man am Stoppschild rechts in die Via Matteotti ein, an deren Ende man immer rechts über die Via Sebina ins Zentrum von PROVAGLIO D’ISEO gelangt. Man erreicht den Kreisverkehr in der Nähe des Parkplatzes des Klosters San Pietro in Lamosa und biegt links in die Via Stazione Vecchia ein, bis man den Kreisverkehr Santella erreicht, wo man rechts abbiegt. Nach dem Bahnübergang biegt man rechts ab, um wieder auf den Weg zu gelangen, der am Naturschutzgebiet Torbiere del Sebino entlang verläuft. Man folgt der Straße und erreicht CREMIGNANE.

Man folgt der Straße, die am Anfang genommen wurde (Via Colombera), einige Kilometer, um nach etwa 40 km zum Ausgangspunkt zurückzukehren.
