The trail / der Weg

Once left Tassano, turn into the trail that runs by the ex-SS 510 on the left, before the underpass where, finally, the asphalt becomes a dirt road. The rouet continue among small vineyards and large olive groves with a view over Lake Iseo. From here go down to a cool valley following old tracks up to a little solid Roman bridge under which a stream named Mesagolo flows. After crossing the bridge, will climb on mule tracks in order to enter the ancient village of Maspiano, made of narrow cobbled lanes and old gates. You will arrive in a square in which stands a church dedicated to San Giacomo that dates back to the XV century. In front of it there is a big fountain with three jets offirsh water, the perfect area for having a rest. In this square the trail crosses with the road which takes to Santa Maria del Giogo, on the border with Valle Trompia. Further on, you will find and follow for a few metres the cobbled road going round the last part of the village; then, climb again toward it, but without entering the town. After going beyond several rows of vines (Vitis vinifera), English walnut trees (Juglans regia) and some fields, you will come to Gandizzano, marked out by the Church of Santa Maria, which dates back to the XV century and has been more than oncd renovated. Then, the path slightly goes downhill to cross Saletto, a stream which flows in the homonymous valley. After passing beyond the scattered houses of Gavone, you will enter Marasino, walk through the old village centre and passing by the Pieve di Sant’Antonio. Keeping on walking behind the recent buildings of Conche, you will cross the Vigolo stream that has its source just under Punta Almana, a mountain that overlooks and marks out a vast portion of this area and anticipates the arrival in the hamlet Distone. You will follow the way that goes along the right shore of the stream for about one hundred metres, until you turn down the road surrounded by olive trees, with Sale Marasino’s Parish Church in the background. You will keep on walking by olive groves and houses, until another stream that comes down from Monte Caprello is reached, whose name is Tufo. After crossing a little bridge made of stone next to a fountain and climbing for a while, you will come across Dosso, situated in a panoramic position, just behind Sale Marasino.

DE – Man verlässt Tassano und biegt links vor der Unterführung ab, in die Straße, die parallel zur ehemaligen SS 510 verläuft. Schließlich weicht der Asphalt der geschlagenen Erde. Man begeht kleine Weinbergen und ausgedehnte Olivenhainen, die den See dominieren, und man folgt alten Karrenwegen, die bergab zu einem kühlen Tal führen, wo auf einer kleinen, aber soliden römischen Brücke der Mesagolo-Bach überquert wird. Nachdem man den Bach überquert hat, geht man auf Saumpfaden hinauf, um das alte Dorf Maspiano zu erreichen, das von engen Kopfsteinpflasterstraßen und alten, sonnenverwöhnten Türen gekennzeichnet ist. Sofort öffnet sich der Platz, auf dem sich die Kirche San Giacomo aus dem 17. Jahrhundert befindet. Der große Brunnen mit drei Frischwasserstrahlen ist ein hervorragender Vorwand für einen kurzen Zwischenstopp. Vom Platz führt eine der beiden Straßen, die sich verbinden (die andere ist diejenige, die Tassano überquert) und die es ermöglicht, Santa Maria del Giogo zu erreichen. Wenn man weiter geht, folgt man dem Kopfsteinpflaster einige Meter und umrundet den letzten Teil des Dorfes vom Tal aus. Dann steigt man hinauf, ohne es zu betreten. Nachdem man kleine Reihen von Weinreben (Vitis vinifera), Walnussbäumen (Juglans regia) und Mähwiesen passiert hat, erreicht man Gandizzano, das von der Kirche Santa Maria aus dem Jahr 1400 geprägt ist, die mehrmals umgebaut wurde. Weiter geht es etwas tiefer, um den Saletto-Bach zu überqueren, der im gleichnamigen Tal fließt. Nachdem man die spärlichen Häuser von Gavone passiert hat, betritt man die Häuser von Marasino, durch das historische Zentrum und neben dem Pieve di Sant’Antonio. Hinter den neuen Siedlungen in Conche erreicht man die Überquerung des Vigolo-Baches, der seinen Ursprung direkt unterhalb von Punta Almana hat, einem Berg, der diesen Teil des Iseosees dominiert und charakterisiert und ein Zeichen für die Ankunft in Distone ist. Man folgt der Straße, die hundert Meter bergab am rechten Ufer des Baches entlang führt, und biegt man dann zwischen den Olivenbäumen mit Blick auf die Pfarrkirche Sale Marasino ab. Olivenhaine und einige Häuser begleiten den Wanderer bis zur Überquerung des vom Monte Caprello absteigenden Wasserlaufs auf einer kleinen gewölbten Steinbrücke: dem Tufo-Bach. Sobald man die Brücke passiert, neben der sich ein Brunnen befindet, steigt man ein kurzes Stück den Bach hinauf. Bald stoßt man auf den Ortsteil Dosso, der sich in einer Panoramaposition hinter Sale Marasino befindet.
